About GET it digital

The fundamentals of electrical engineering are not only taught in degree programs focusing on electrical engineering, but are also found in numerous scientific and engineering fields of study such as physics, computer science, mechanical engineering, logistics, and safety engineering, especially in the first semesters. In addition, vocational schools and some secondary schools use this teaching content to educate their students. The number of learners and teachers involved with this teaching content is therefore large and, at the same time, very heterogeneous.

Students are provided with a comprehensive pool of learning resources using the materials created as part of the project, enabling them to learn at their own pace anytime, anywhere. There is no need to search for supplementary learning materials in specialist literature or other online resources and evaluate their suitability for deepening knowledge. In addition to the digital implementation of the learning materials, learning objective checks with subsequent detailed corrections and supplementary explanations are provided.

Teachers of the fundamentals of electrical engineering can use the project materials for various didactic designs. They can be used for individual topic preparation in the flipped classroom or as phases of student discussion in lectures. The materials can also be used as supporting material in exercises or tutorials and for exam preparation by students.

The teaching and learning materials provided here are divided into 12 modules that build on each other, which were created by the seven universities participating in the “GET it digital” project. Each module includes learning objectives that provide an overview of the content to be taught, as well as exercises tailored to the content.

The GET it digital project was funded over two years by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the Digital University NRW initiative. All materials created as part of the project are available as Open Educational Resources (OER) and can be freely accessed and reused worldwide under a Creative Commons license.
